Back to School

I never thought I'd be going back to school after all these years. I graduated 6 years ago from journalism thinking now my life begins. It has not been easy and I haven't found anything in my field. To be honest I got really fed up with the people I had to interview.

I'm now back in school and I can't believe what a difference University is to college. I am so happy to be in University. It's a wonderful experience thus far. I was so scared that I was way too old to go back but that's not the case at all. A matter of fact, at York University there is a great community amongst the Mature students.

I implore all who read this. If you think you can never go back, I'm happy to say - YOU CAN!

My Bad Luck Continued

Once again ABC has dissapointed me by cancelling another show before it got off the ground. Romantically challenged! I've been a fan of Alyssa Milano since she walked into Angela Bower's house with a black eye. Who's the boss was great, Charmed was great, why can't ABC give things a better chance then 4 episodes?

Noah Wyle's new show, Fallen Skies, is coming out next year. Please oh please give this show a fair shot. It looks like it might be amazing.

I'm also so sad to see As the World Turns go. Good-bye ATWT. For over 50 years you've tugged at our hearts. I'm so happy to see Maura West is going to Young and the Restless. I hope Roger Howarth follows his acting career to LA. He's awesome!

As for my writings, I've once again been rejected but atlease I'm finally out there and soon will come a day when you'll see my books on the shelves of Indigo.

My Bad Luck with TV

For the last few years I've chosen to watch new shows and have really gotten into them. Now for the fifth time a show I was really getting into got cancelled before it really ended.

First, when I was in high school I got into "Popular". It was a cute show with an array of fresh faced actors. Leslie Bib, Carly Pope, Sara Rue and Leslie Grossman just to name a few. They were a hit on the WB and were starting to get into movies. They made it to Season two and then left us forever wondering if Brooke got killed.

Then I was really into MD's with the funny guy from THE MUMMY. The guy who plays the brother. After 12 episodes or so they got cancelled without warning.

Next I was into Moonlight. A show about vampires before the whole Twilight hoopla. A hoopla I can't stand by the way. Vampires don't glisten in the sun! THEY DIE! Again, they were cancelled without warning.

Last year there was a great show called "Big Shots". It was the male version of Sex in the City. Besides the fact that I could stare at Michael Vartan all day, it was a really creative show.

Lastly "Eastwick". This was a clever show based on the novel "The witches of Eastwick". It was a good movie and the show had three talented actresses to pull it off.

Most of these shows got cancelled during the climb of "Reality TV". I can't stand most reality shows. It seems redundant to escape from the day by watching the day of someone else.

I love good scripted television. ER, CSI, FRIENDS are a few of my favourites. Now shows aren't even being given a fair shot at accumulating an audience. Not every show is going to be a hit right off the bat. Not every show is going to debut at 40 million people like ER. Some of the sitcoms that defined family television in the 80's were not an instant hit. Cheers, Who's the Boss and Growing Pains all had to wait a while before the following came.

Broadcast stations like CBS, NBC and ABC need to give their developers more time than 12 episodes or 1 season to get off the ground.
